Swipe privacy policy
Effective October 3, 2026 · Swipe version 1.0
Swipe is provided by Trevor Nguyen, a sole proprietor trading as chotato in Japan. This policy explains how the app, this website, and support email handle information.
Swipe does not upload your photos or videos to a chotato server. Sorting takes place on your device. Apple’s iCloud services and the sharing destinations you choose can receive or deliver media as described below.
Photos access
Swipe requests access to your Photos library so you can view, sort, favorite, share, and delete photos and videos. You can grant access to selected items or your full library, and change or revoke access in iOS Settings. Access is used for these features; your media and sorting decisions are not used for advertising.
Swipe reads information needed to show your library, including asset identifiers, dates, media types, dimensions, durations, and favorite status. If an original is stored in iCloud, Apple may download it as you browse, preview, play, or share it. Apple’s services are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Sorting data saved on your device
Swipe saves asset identifiers, sorting decisions, your review queue, Undo history, and records needed to recover safely from an interrupted deletion. It also uses local thumbnails and temporary media files to display and share items. This information is not sent to chotato by the app.
Sorting data remains until you clear it or remove the app’s data. Confirming Reset sorted in Swipe’s Settings clears sorting decisions, the review queue, and Undo history without deleting Photos media or changing favorites. Removing access does not automatically erase sorting decisions. Device or iCloud backups may include app data according to your Apple settings.
Favorites, sharing, and deletion
Using the heart changes an item’s favorite status in Apple Photos. Sharing creates a temporary exported copy and passes it to the destination you select. Exported copies may retain metadata, including capture dates and location information present in the original. That destination’s own privacy practices apply. Live Photos are shared as still images. Swipe removes temporary exports after sharing or cancels preparation, and cleans up abandoned exports when the app next starts.
Sorting an item never deletes it. Deletion requires your confirmation and Apple Photos authorization. Confirmed deletions change your Photos library, including devices synced through iCloud Photos. Photos normally retains deleted media in Recently Deleted for 30 days, unless it is permanently removed earlier. Swipe cannot undo a confirmed Photos deletion.
Accounts, analytics, and advertising
Version 1.0 has no chotato account system, advertising SDK, in-app analytics SDK, purchases, or subscriptions. Apple may provide diagnostics or App Store statistics according to your Apple settings. If a later version adds advertising or changes how information is handled, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before that change takes effect, with permission requested where required.

Hosting and security services process technical request information, which can include your IP address, browser details, requested URL, and security signals, to deliver pages and protect the service. Cloudflare may use cookies where needed for security. This site does not include advertising, a contact form, or a third-party analytics script.

When you contact support
If you email hello@chotato.com, chotato receives your email address and the message and attachments you choose to send. Cloudflare routes support email to a Google-hosted inbox; both services process messages to deliver and handle them. Replies are sent through Cloudflare. This information is used to reply, investigate the issue, and maintain necessary support records. Please avoid sending personal photos, videos, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request.
Support information is retained only as long as needed to handle your request and necessary follow-up or legal obligations. You can request access, correction, or deletion of information you have sent us by contacting the same address. This does not affect media stored in your Photos library, which you control through Apple Photos.
